Stormward is a free virtual reality game, currently in beta, that runs in the Meta Quest Browser, as an installed Meta Quest app, and on PCs over Quest Link. This page explains what the game collects, why, who handles it, and how you can delete it. In short: there are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking across other sites. The game collects anonymous gameplay data so the leaderboard works and so bugs and difficulty can be fixed.
What we collect
- A random player id. The first time you play, your browser makes a random id and keeps it in its local storage. It isn't linked to your Meta account, your name or your device, and it's sent with everything below so your Runs and reports belong together.
- Your leaderboard name. A generated name such as "Squall Warden 427", or one you choose. Please don't use your real name unless you want it to be public.
- Run results. When a Run ends: the difficulty, whether you won, Waves cleared, Core health left, how long it took, enemies defeated, leaks and Towers built.
- Gameplay events. Moments such as starting the game, entering and leaving VR, starting, finishing or abandoning a Run, and clearing a Wave, with details like the Wave number, Shards and Towers, whether you play seated, whether a headset was found and how long loading took.
- Crash reports. If the game hits an error: the error message and where in the code it happened, plus your browser's user agent (its name and version).
- Feedback you send. Your message and its type, any contact details you choose to add, and what the game was doing at the time (for example the Wave, frame rate and recent errors), your browser's user agent and screen size.
- Technical details. Which version of the game you're running and whether you're playing in the Quest Browser, the installed app, or on a PC.
We don't collect your Meta account details, email address (unless you put one in a feedback form), location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we don't use cookies. Headset and controller tracking is used only on your device to draw the game, and is never sent anywhere.
On a PC over Quest Link, the Stormward launcher lets the game see the names of your audio devices, so it can send sound to the headset rather than your PC speakers. Browsers only reveal those names to pages allowed to use the microphone, so the launcher grants that permission to the game's own page. The game never listens to or records the microphone.
How we use it
- To run the global leaderboard.
- To find and fix crashes and bugs.
- To balance the difficulty levels and understand how far players get.
- To read your feedback and, if you left contact details, reply to it.
We don't sell or rent this data, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other sources.
What's public
The leaderboard on stormward.vercel.app shows your leaderboard name and your best Run on each difficulty: its rank, result, Core health, time and date. Nothing else is public.
Who handles it
The website, game and database run on Vercel (hosting) and Neon (the database), which store and process it for us and may do so outside your country. Like any website host, Vercel also receives your IP address when your browser connects, and keeps it briefly in its logs.
How long we keep it
We keep this data for as long as it's useful for running and improving Stormward. You can delete yours at any time with the button below, and if Stormward closes down, its data will be deleted.
Delete your data
Checking this device…
This deletes your leaderboard name and entries, Run results, gameplay events, crash reports and feedback from our database straight away, and clears the id from this browser. Each browser has its own id, so do this on every device you played on (for the headset, open this page in the Quest Browser). If you can't, or have any other question about your data, send a message through the feedback form and include your player id.
Children
Stormward isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. As there are no accounts, we can't tell who is playing. If you're a parent and want your child's data removed, use the button above on their device, or contact us through the feedback form.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
